We have relocated to Saint Pair in Normandy, which is only a few kilometers down the road. We're staying in a camp site just around the corner from the courts, and right by the beach. It's really windy by our campsite, but its actually pretty nice with full showers and all.
It's been hard to get court time, and so we have been sneaking on whenever we can. This morning we woke up at 5:30 just to get on the courts before anyone was at the club. We hopped a 7 foot fence and played for about an hour, until a portly man smoking a hand-rolled cig, who ended up being the groundskeeper, came strolling in around 7:15. He started talking to us in French, clearly aggrivated that we were there, but once he realized all we could say was "tournoi, tournoi" he gave the LP hand-throw move and went about his landscaping business.
During the day today we explored an old castle/church called Mont-Saint-Micheal. Its built on a massive rock that sits in the middle of the Bay in this area (cant remember the name) and was originally a church constructed before 1000. It was built up after France conquered Normandy, and slowly it became a popular pilgramage site. During the 100 years war, the English seiged it for 30 years!! So the walls are really fortified and the whole thing is one huge castle. It is in the middle of one of the huggest tidal variances in the world, and we watched as the tide moved hundreds of feet during the day.
Tomorrow we have matches in the second tournament, TC St. Pair, on TB clay. One match tomorrow and two on Sunday if we win. let's go slugs!
